Monday, Angie and I spent most of the day in the emergency room and at Primecare. The morning began when she went to the church office for her first day volunteering. She was telling Connie and Krista how thirsty she had been the last week, and how she was constantly going to the bathroom. Connie had a glucose meter in her purse, so she tested Angie's blood. Her reading was off the chart. She called her doctor and he told her to go the er. They drew her blood and did an arterial blood gas test. The results were 639 blood glucose level and normal results for the pH level of her blood. They gave her insulin and when her readings were down to the 300's, they sent her to her regular doctor. He reviewed the lab results and prescribed metformin extended release-- one tablet twice a day.
Angie's readings stayed in the 300's and 400's Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday evening, she really started feeling bad and she checked her blood sugar. It was 375. I called Primecare and they said to come in first thing Thursday morning.
Thursday, Angie was seen by her doctor's physician assistant. He reviewed her information and lab results, and decided to increase her evening dose of metformin to two tablets. He drew blood to send out for an a1c test. The p.a. told Angie it would probably take a few days for the metformin to take full effect. Her blood sugar reading Thursday morning when she woke up was 318. It was 322 before she ate dinner.
This morning Angie's blood sugar reading was 314, the lowest morning reading all week. I hope the metformin will soon begin to have its full effect. Angie is hoping not to have to take insulin shots. I'm working with her to figure out the best foods to help her control her diabetes. I love her and want her to get control of this disease.

Time to refresh
Angie and I enjoyed the pool this morning for the first time in a while. It was a refreshing start of the day. I'm so glad to have a couple of days off from work to enjoy with Angie. Tomorrow I'll be cutting the grass.
Angie and I are looking forward to Sergey and Anastasia's visit this weekend. They are such a delight to be around. Their passion for Jesus is so evident to all who see and hear them. We hope to hear Sergey preach this Sunday. I'm working Sunday evening, so if he preaches Sunday morning, I plan to be there.
Just a few more days until the crimson tide kicks of their first game of the college football season. We're preseason #2 and hopefully headed for another national championship this year. Roll Tide Roll.
I'd like to leave you today with a beautiful video of this wonderful planet earth that God created and provides for. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Funny tv shows
The other day while Angie and I were watching the Golden Girls, I started thinking how two of the three actresses are now gone from this life. Only Betty White is left with us, and she was the oldest of the three!
The way their characters interacted still makes me laugh.
Another funny show I like that I didn't watch much when it was first aired is Frasier. A couple of cable channels show several episodes back to back at night, so I've really enjoyed seing how the characters developed over time. Niles is my favorite character on the show.
Please share your favorite funny shows and characters.

Update on Judy
Judy has had a good week so far. On Monday, her neurosurgeon, Dr. Voss, let her know the tumor on her pituitary gland is not cancerous. Yesterday, she saw Dr. Pratt, a rheumatologist, for the first time. He told her she doesn't have the symptoms of lupus. Her old doctor had diagnosed her with lupus. So she's relieved. Thanks for the prayers. Praise God.

Amazing Race
Great sermon today from Greg. To share Christ with others, we must first connect with them and then relate to them on their level. Let's show others how much we care, before we hit them over the head with our bibles.
