Healthcare Reform Summit and More

I watched some of the healthcare summit today and I have doubts anyone there changed their minds. Several of the Democrats told tearjerking stories such as one woman having to use her sister's dentures because she doesn't have health insurance, while some Republicans argued over process and procedures.

We do need reform but not a government takeover of one sixth of the American economy.  We need more accountability from both the insurers and the insured.  Why can't insurance companies issue partial premium refunds to those who don't need much medical care?  I think such a move could encourage people to take steps to improve their health.  And if more of us would take responsibility for our own health, (me included), we could save plenty on our personal healthcare costs, while insurance companies would have to pay out much less than they do now.  It would be a win-win situation.

I finally got to watch this week's episode of Lost.  We now have a better idea of what Hurley's mysterious lottery numbers referred to,  but many questions about the show remain unanswered.

As I write this, my wife is making some beautiful handmade cards for our church.  Meanwhile, we're listening to some beautiful contemporary Christian music, including "Days of Elijah" and "Above All Else".

God bless and please send me your comments.  I thank you.
